The Laya–Gasa trek is quite a popular 17 days trek that is rated a medium hard one. It takes you through diverse terrain and mountain villages down to Gasa. The hot springs here are famed for their medicinal properties. For the five days this trek follows the route of the Jhomolhari trek till Lingshi. For the next five days you walk 6-7 hours each day, making numerous ascents and descents with flowers, juniper and medicinal plants.

SEASONS: April-June and September-November.

Day 1: Arrive at Paro international airport. The representative of  Tashi Gongphel Tours will receive you and transfer to the hotel. An orientation talks in the evening. Overnight at Hotel
Day 2: Sightseeing of the paro valley. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Paro to Shana, 17 km walk, alt. 2800m (Trek begins)
Day 4: Shana to Soi Thangtahankha, 9-10hrs walk, alt. 3750m
Day5: Soi Thangtahankha to Jangothang, 19 km trail, alt. 4040m
Day 6: Short hikes or rest day at  Jangothang.
Day 7: Jangothang to Lingshi, 19 km trail, alt. 4150m
Day 8: Lingshi to Chebisa, 19 km walk, alt. 3850m
Day 9: Chebisa to Shomutang, 17 km walk, alt. 4250m
Day 10: Shomutang to Robluthang, 18 km trail, alt. 4400m
Day 11: Robluthang to Lemithang, 19 km walk, alt. 4100m
Day 12: Lemithang to Laya, 10 km trail, alt. 3800m
Day 13: A day rest at Laya. Discover around the village.
Day 14: Laya to Chamsa, 8-9hrs walk, alt. 3800m
Day 15: Chamsa to Gasa Tsahchu, 5-6hrs walk, alt. 4160m
Day 16: Halt at Gasa Tshachu. After long tiring days, this is the time to relax. Enjoy the hot spring bath.
Day 17: Gasa Tshachu to Goen Damji, 5-6hrs walk, alt. 2200m

Day 18: Goen Damji to Punakha via Tashithang. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 19: Morning sightseeing of the Punakha and Wangdi valleys. Afternoon drive to Thimphu. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 20: Morning sightseeing of the Thimphu valley. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 21: Drive to Paro visiting Simtokha Dzong on route. Farewell dinner and overnight at Hotel.
