1. Where is Bhutan?
Bhutan is landlocked South Asian country, covering an area of around 39,000sq.km.It stretches 300 km from east to west, while North-South axis is around 14o km.On its boundaries to the East, West and South lie the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh,Sikim and West Bengal/Assam respectively while north lies Tibet’s Chubi valley, sandwiched between north Bhutan and Sikkim.

2. How to reach there?
There are two ways through which you can travel to Bhutan.
By Druk Air.
The best way to enter Bhutan is by Druk Air, the national air carrier. The following cities are connected to Bhutan with Druk Air flights:
India: Delhi (DEL), Kolkotta (CCU) & Gaya (GAY)
Nepal: Kathmandu (KTM)
Bangladesh: Dhaka (DAC)
Thailand: Bangkok (BKK)

Both entry and exit can be done via Phuntsholing, You can enter/exit Bhutan overland from the Indian state of West Bengal into Phuntsholing, border town in southwest of Bhutan.  Four hours drive from Phuntsholing will take you to Bagdogra in the state of West Bengal (India) which is the nearest airport from Phuntsholing. Phuntsholing serves as a convenient point for the travelers wishing to visit the Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal along with Bhutan. The drive from Phuntsholing to Thimphu takes six hours.

5. When is the best season to travel to Bhutan?
You can travel to Bhutan anytime of the year. Visitors tend to stay away during the monsoon seasons of June-August when the weather is sometimes not good for sightseeing and photographs.  The best time for trekking is in spring and autumn.  Hence, the months of March, April, May and Sept, October, November.

7. What do I need to do to apply for a visa?
No foreign mission grants Bhutan tourist visa, all visitors traveling to Bhutan are required to obtain a visa and it is processed and arranged by the local tour operators. The Govt. will sanction visa only after the receipt of full payment in advance. The cost of the visa itself is US $20, which can be further extended with an additional fee of US $15. Visa fee should be paid along with the tour payment and actual Bhutan VISA will be stamped on your passport on arrival on Paro airport.

8.How do I book my flights into Bhutan?

9.When should I pay my tour payment?
For Cultural Tours, booking arrangements must be completed 4 weeks in advance, but for Cultural Tours during festivals, arrangements must be completed 6 weeks in advance. The spring and autumn festivals are our peak times for tourism, and without early reservations it can be difficult to confirm flights and hotels.

10.How should I pay my tour payment?
The best way to transfer money is through wire or bank transfer to the Bhutan National Bank in Thimphu. Tashi Gongphel Tours will provide you with full instructions and bank details.

11.What is the Bhutan tour Tariff?
The International Tourist Tariff is set by the Royal Government of Bhutan and is valid for all inclusive packages. The tariff is divided into a high season and a low season rate. The rates are the same for cultural tours, treks or any other special interest tours.

Surcharge
Single  Individual – US$ 40/- Per night halt per person
Group  of two -  US$ 30/- Per night halt per person
Off Season Rates
Cultural / Trekking -  US$ 165 Per night halt per person

The Government fixes the tourist tariff rates.
The peak season Months: March, April, May, June, September, October, November, December, January & February.
Off season Months: July & August.
The tour package includes airport transfers, accommodation on a twin sharing basis, all meals, Land transport within Bhutan, Sightseeing, tour guide, museum fees.

12.What are the discounts?
50% discount for one person with 11 persons paying
100% discount for one person with 16 persons paying
50% discount for children between 6 to 12 accompanied by parents/ guardians
25% discount for students below 25 years of age with proper ID.

13.Can I use credit cards in Bhutan?
Credit cards are accepted only in few Luxury hotels and shops in the capital and districts. All credit card transactions take extra time and are cumbersome to use. For convenience, it is preferable to have traveler’s cheques and cash.

14.Is there ATM facility in Bhutan?
No, there is no ATM facility in Bhutan.

15.What is Bhutan’s currency?
Bhutan’s currency is the ngultrum and is equivalent to the Indian rupee which is widely accepted in Bhutan.

16.What kind of meals is available in Bhutan?
A variety of meals are available in most hotels – the most popular being Indian, Chinese, and the more common continental food.

17.What about our transportation when we travel through Bhutan?
